'loop'tidoo!

great trancy feeling. why is it just a loop? it could do so much better!
the long high synth must resemble that violion trick that is used alot. like some sort of suspense? i dont know what it does but it somehow fits in like evry bridge of a trance song. ( which seems unfair cuz it doesnt do anything :S except filling those high freq's if your aiming that way ) kick is good, drums. well.. maybe too standard. you seem to like that reverse kick. ( yeah me too ^^ ) and more offbeat bass kinda stuff. like it onbeat ( if that is the opposite.. offbeat/onbeat whatever ) like exactly on the hihat. to get some more dancy feeling. and that the bass doesnt overlap the kick. ( hate doing EQing, so i wont eq it ^^ ) you know what would sound perfect? ACID!!! WOOO! ( yea i love acid.. sounds that is ) you should try , or consider finishing it. its just a tiny loop! its a nice beginning just add some wicked awesome melo and your done. since you work in FL ( if i remember correctly ) just copy paste loads of crap and you have an intro. you got the pieces, now instead of making a 2d puzzle, make it 3d. make it more special so it stands out.

Karco responds:

It's a loop because this is essentially my part for the first CTSG, built upon a little bit, and submitted as a loop. :P I definitely agree it could do better, the question is, what will I do with it? :\

The high synth is supposed to sound like that violin trick! :P It IS supposed to be suspense, though I also did it because I felt like being generic for some reason. D:

Glad you like the kick, the drums... hmm, maybe they are too standard. I thought that the repeating loop (the one that fades out in the high synth part) did something to give the kick a very neat, original sound, and the hihats really built the energy up... I guess I see what you mean when I think about the clap, though, but once again, I have a specific taste in claps. :P

I actually don't usually use basses on the offbeat, but all of the stuff I've been making lately either has the bass audible only on the offbeat, or the bass playing some sort of offbeat arp. I never have it play one note for both the whole offbeat, which I think is waaaaay too dull. >:(

Acid would sound perfect! :D Problem is, I have a hard time finding good, new acid sounds... :\ Ah well.

FL Studio doesn't work by copy-pasting lots of stuff, you know. ;) Doing that just makes the songs boring... copy-pasting is the last thing I'll do if I want to turn this into a good song. I like the little 2D/3D puzzle idea, I'll keep that in mind if I ever work on this again.

Glad you liked it overall, thanks for the review! :)

wow!

listhened the reversed one earlier. wel what cant i say
since its a demo , so its kinda limited. so, my review will also be limited just to annoy you ^^ k thx
first things i noticed. the BPM. increadibly slow. 125 bpm? maybe 127...
a bit too slow to my opinnion since it was ment to be a 'rush'. some other guy in those reviews says the same thing. well since trance is like the mental abstractial drawn characters of drawn music it doesnt need good names. ( but dance tracks dont have better ones, i bet there are over a billion with the word 'love' in it....) anyways back to the song
'reverse kick' whooph straight into the chorus. so this is right after the bridge i suspose. the beat is actually quit nice with that bpm. kinda, dancy for trance. slow. big Hihat gated clap pumping kick is a good mixture. the lead. well that wouldt be my first choice. but it isnt my song. i would make it a bit softer. and more reverb :D yeah. oh by the way. i really dislike the bass. its so dull. not only that its just... not right. maybe it kinda fits to your idea of the song. but it only makes the song feel slower. if you spice up the bass a bit it might be a bit better. or.... sidechain.. ( hmmmm sidechain ). sidechain is, and will always be my second love. nothing better but sometimes its so useless. i wish you could sidechain evrything! ( sidechained cheesburger.... ) ah anyways. next thing. Teh P@dz. ( the padds ) those long chordy angelic sounds. that surtanly adds an extra touch to your song. makes it more trancy, and a bit more uplifting feel. since it works very well with the melo. but since its kinda fade in... erhm hard to explain but it takes awhile since it reaches its normal sound. if you layerd them. and start a bit earlier overlapping eachother, so the peak hits the exact time of the next bar. or maybe not. it adds a bit difference in the song. enuf about the demo. what to improve.. well well, how about some more fx? or maybe a drum-drop. you could try some more fx to make it more intesting. maybe a second melo? what to expect? a long bridge... i think. maybe a short complain about my review.. ah what the hell its an demo ;) we newgrounders must just wait for the final version to pop up. i hope it exceeds my expentations!
Firebolt aka Yorin
( check my old song mario rmx :D )

Karco responds:

Woah, huge review! :O I'll do my best to respond to it, but we'll see... (Oh, and I doubt that this is in the least bit limited. XD)

It's at 109 BPM and it doesn't have to be a Rush by being fast. ;) Think about the song, and don't limit yourself to the first way that comes to mind... go past the surface. ;D

Yeah, this'll probably go after the breakdown, but we'll have to see. This song could go in so many different directions, and maybe it won't go anywhere at all. Who knows? ;D Glad you like the drums and the lead... and you seem to be a fan of reverb and delay! :P

Hmm, you're the first one to say that the bass is dull... I wanted it to be dull, to be honest, while not being too "bassy," and providing a good harmony. It might be an opinion thing, but the only way to find out is if more people tell me what they think, right? ;) Sidechaining is actually a really good idea, considering the bass in the first half of the beat is almost inaudible. :\

Sidechained cheeseburger. XD

Glad you like the pads, and yeah - what you're talking about would be the attack of the pads, which is how long they take to get to their maximum volume. Call it the "swell" of the pads. :P It's really tricky to work with, and it's a background pad anyway, so I think I'll probably be leaving it as it is.

More FX, drum-drop, both great ideas, thanks! :D I already have a second melody, maybe I'll make a long bridge, I have a few ideas for that one. ;)

Hopefully it'll exceed your expectations! ;D I've got a different song coming first, which is a shame as so many people are asking me to finish this one! D: Ah well, hopefully you all can be patient... the next song I'm going to submit will be my best! >:)

Thanks for the HUGE review, and once again, I'll give your stuff a look! ;D

lol! surreal it is

even in reverse it sounds cool ^^
the clap seems to be a bit the same
isnt that an reverse kick with an normal kick? :) oh wait you added drums explains alot
This is an intresting idea, but expect for some haters that will zero bomb it ...
i seem to like it :D

Karco responds:

You seem to have gone through this song point by point, so I'll do the same with your review. ;)

- It is a bit similar, my taste in claps is rather... narrow. :P
- The only kick in this song is the normal kick, I made a special render of the demo with a silenced kick before reversing it. ;)
- It IS an interesting idea! ;D If you liked this song, check out Rig's song which I've linked to here, which gave me the idea to make this one. :P

Glad you like it! Thanks for the review, and thanks again, as this song hardly has any! ;D

awesome

you certainly like gate's dont you?
anyways i liked the song.
piano was perfect except you could search for an even better sound :O
also i noticed some lack in reverb/delay ( i like that but thats just an oppinion so.. )
its a great song, well composed. maybe a tad repetive but what the heck, all songs all. we cant expect to have it all dont we? would like to hear more from you, you have.. a touch of trance that i like. keep it up! and check my music if u heave the chance ^.^

Karco responds:

Funny thing is, I don't use gated synths all that often. :P

Yep, there are better pianos out there. In one of the earlier reviews I said that the piano sounded a bit thin, and possibly weak, compared to some of the other choices I could have made. It was still a good choice, but there were better ones. :P

And, just a thought - if my piano was "perfect," then how could there be anything better? XD

There was reverb and delay, I believe, though I definitely agree with what you're pointing at here - there are several instances throughout this song where I might want to experiment with reverb and delay sometime. :P

Glad you liked it, and yep, it's repetitive - I had to let it happen, the song would never have gotten finished otherwise. Good thing you don't think it hurt the song too much! ;D Glad you like my style, too, check by my page now and then as I've got a great submission coming in the near future. >:) I'll definitely give your stuff a look sometime - I've been busy lately, though, so if I take a while don't hesitate to give me a reminder. ;)

Thanks for the review! :)

o LOL

awesome. the breakbeat and the melo its awesome!
only i didnt really like the guitar. its sounds too cheap :/
i dont know if you know but, the melo around 1.22 is ripped of a midi.
and the song is kinda based on that... too bad i noticed :(
nonetheless, i admire your music and youve got yourself a fan :D

ZeRo-BaSs responds:

Thank you!!

i bet you had lots of fun with this mix didnt you?

great song! i love the origenality.
the somehow, experimental stuff, is kinda weird but cool.
also, i noticed you had either a lot of fxes, or made them reverse and lots of other effects on em. but, that flute thingy, gets anoyying after awhile.
nonetheless great mix, and nicely mastered!
10/10

Rucklo responds:

regarding the "flute" thing... tell me about it, it's a branch rubbed against a streetsign, the sound IRL was cutting my ears to eath. jut had to sample it :)
and yeah, ive fooled around quite some with home recorded foley-samples and VST effects etc.
Glad ya like the song, thanx for the review!

awesome

so origenal and happy song
somehow, make the bass more fatter. more bassy >:D
also the piano sounds a beat, weak
but nice song nonetheless, i really like the overall feeling to it.
and its also, so videogamish..
i luv that lol
10/10
n a 5

Waterflame responds:

Thank you! :D yeah, i know, the piano kinda.. meh, its not up to date. so to speak. but untill i find a good vst piano plugin i cant really do anything better than that =/ lol. thanks for the nice review! :D

nice but! could be better

intro is just about right, maybe to 'plain' only drum but what the hell its dnb
you should think about compressing and watch out for that distort.
with the glitchy part wel. im not a big fan of it but it sounded rather funny :D against what evrybody else does. try make a drum similair to that. kinda like IDM .. glitchy drum :) sweet
and, any chance you used fruityloops and z3ta?
check out my music if you have time ;)

Joowna responds:

Thx for your big review :)

Yes I use fruity and z3ta, theyre very good! It's nice to hear that you like the glitch, thats whats make the song special, and im now going to search wtf IDM is :P
And hear some songs of you!

Huray for nexus

ive got nexus too, and got the orchestra expension from a friend.
what you did, is fantastic! altough, for guitar and piano's , i tend to search for more specific piano vst's. nexus doesnt rlly pulls the job somehow. but its a great synth and use it alot.
if im hearing it correctly, you used alot of presets ( i think that is wat refx wanted )
to my taste, some percussions would sound great.
nontheless, 10/10

Rig responds:

Well, it was supposed to be a demonstration of the Orchestral expansion. Nothing but Nexus presets were used (it's a rompler, you can't really edit the sounds). Yeah, it could've used more percussion, but it didn't really come with any. That's why they want you to buy the drum expansion :)

Thanks for the review!

Excelent!

luv it! great song. nice composition great layering and variation. so in short, excellent! 10/10 . if you have time, check my songs :)

SilentTakedown responds:

The sounding is very successful.
Thanks for your review!

Enjoy my music :D
